Indian Rosewood

Indian rosewood is renowned for its stunningly beautiful colouring and figure. A handsome rich dark wood with the most spectacular variegated figuring. A high arched sweeping figure combines with striking ribbon figure. The colours flow from pale golden, to soft chocolate to darkest aubergine brown all delineated with black trails and a waxy surface lustre.

Rosewood, because when freshly cut, it exudes the scent of roses. Rosewood oil retains the scent of roses and is used in fine perfumery. The oil also has many medicinal uses and is know to stimulate cell growth. Used by indian woman as an anti aging and beauty face treatment.

Indian rosewood is a very hard, heavy and exceptionally dimensionally stable timber. Much used in the regency period for fine drawing room and dining room furniture.
