georgian oak is a rich, warm dark variation
of our burgundy and bordeaux oaks. The
mature colour is obtained using a centuries
old process which gives the timber the deep
colour and patina of 18th century hand hewn
boards.
georgian oak has all the natural characteristics
of our mature french (native european) oaks,
including the beautiful medullary rays of the
fine quarter sawn boards, and attractive pippy
and character knots and shakes in the wood.
rich dark burgundy brown with warm umber
red and deep golden undertones. the deep
colour accentuates the knots, and georgian
oak is at its very best using a mix of character
and rustic boards, which enhance the period
appearance of the oak.
georgian oak is the perfect choice for period
17th & 18th century buildings. for authenticity a
220mm width, and better still in random widths.
or for something different, try the narrow 100mm
plank which is reminiscent of the decks of an
18th century sailing ship.
as with all our mature first growth french oaks,
georgian oak is strong, hard and immensely
durable and stable for installation over ufh.
perfect in georgian/georgian style interiors where
a darker floor is specified, and complimented by
simple matte painted skirting’s and architraves
in historic old whites. but also works well in
minimal interiors when used in period conversions,
warehouses, barns etc
